"The state must declare the child to be the most precious thing. As long as the government is perceived as working for the benefit of the children, the people will happily endure almost any curtailment of liberty and almost any deprivation." - Mein Kampf, Adolf Hitler, Publ. Houghton Miflin, 1943, Page 403
The President has committed a glaring fallacy: appeal to pity. He is not focusing on the substance of his proposals, but merely taking advantage of the tender emotion from what happened last month in Newtown, CT.
ReplyDeleteI ask this question: if gun free zones are so terrific, then why don't we install one around the President? If it is bad to have more than seven rounds in a magazine, then how about we limit the Secret Service to seven rounds? I like how the NRA stated it with regard to the protection of President Obama's kids: protection for them, gun free zones for us.
Yes, I agree, Hayden. It is too bad that this is how our President is going about the issue in Newtown, CT. I was watching a video with someone interviewing Mark Levin. Mark Levin has looked at all 23 executive orders and said that they really don't have anything to do with the accident in Newtown. I feel as though President Obama is merely taking advantage of what happened in Newtown. Now, please, do not misunderstand me. I believe that our President truly sympathizes for those that suffered a loved-one in the Newtown massacre. But, I also believe that because of the recent event it gave our president a somewhat good excuse to sign 23 executive orders about gun control.
ReplyDeleteYou've hit the nail on the head. People say the President doesn't understand; I've said that myself. However, it has occurred to me that our President is not an ignorant man. He knows what he's doing, and it is shameful. I cannot think of anything more dishonest than to take advantage of the death of children, and then to line up children behind you as your straw men of a country that supposedly wants you to take their guns away. It is mind boggling.
